Every day there’s danger on every side when you’re livin’ on the line.”  What apt lyrics for the title cut of the powerful new Papa T project,  “Livin’ On The Line,” a tribute to the 101st Airborne’s Screaming Eagles. Three years in the making, this electrifying DVD/CD was also born of a very personal desire on the part of Steve Turner (Papa T) to  honor the memory of his wife, Kathy’s, first husband. In 1972, a helicopter crash at Ft. Campbell took the life of CW2 Howard W. Blanton, Jr., a member of “C” company, 101st Airborne Division.

It is also a project to honor and encourage those who are now serving this country in the military. With it’s soulful, uplifting message, “Remember the Light” provides soldiers and families a musical “chord” to focus on reasons why they are apart, why they are doing what they are doing, and one that will bind them together when they can’t be together. Following a similar theme, “Hold Them In Your Heart” with its catchy melody, is hope for families who are waiting back home for their soldier’s return.

The fourth cut, “Living Free,” introduces Papa T’s son, Christian Turner, a gifted singer/songwriter in his own right. His delivery of this insightful self-penned tune, which borders on spiritual, is the crux of why soldiers live on the line, why families wait, and why all their efforts are esteemed in these songs and video.

The first three cuts were a collaboration between Papa T and Cris Moore, an award winning Nashville songwriter who had two number one hits with Lee Roy Parnell. Christian was co-writer on the fourth song. The story of how Papa T and Moore, two UPS drivers, connected with each other, then reeled in a Fed Ex driver, Steve Sawyer, for the dynamic video production to illuminate the spirit of the music, is only part of an amazing tale of divine intervention.

Papa T, an ol’ rocker with a smokin’ guitar, who also provides vocals on all but “Living Free,” had many close encounters of the musical kind over the years, but none came to fruition until this one.

He knew without question that this project was supposed to be. It’s for all of those who are livin’ on the line so the rest of us can be living free.

Agreements were signed Feb. 7th for the DVD to be a fundraiser for the multi-million dollar Wings of Liberty Museum, honoring the 101st Airborne, to be built at Ft. Campbell, KY.
